Who I am

Hi, I’m Sebastian Koch, and I shoot film.

I studied photography in Bielefeld, Germany, and build every film profile myself. Questions before you buy? Get in touch.

05Before you buy

Four answers before you pick an edition.

  • Can I buy single film stocks? No. Film stocks come in editions. The smallest are the Cine and B&W Editions, three film stocks each. Shoot Portra? The Portra Pack has all four.
  • I edit in Capture One.You get ICC-based styles built for one camera model, picked on the product page. Each extra camera starts at €19 / $25. Lightroom too? Add it for €49 / $59.
  • Will it work with my camera?Standard works with every camera Lightroom supports, raw or JPEG. Professional needs a raw file from one of 368 camera models. Check yours.
  • Can I try it first?Yes. Kodacolor 100 and Vision 3 250D are free at 0 EV, Standard version, for Lightroom. Get them here.

What changes
Below 0 EV skin gets deeper and warmer. Above 0 EV it gets lighter and softer.
How to choose
Start at 0 EV, then step down or up until the skin looks right.

07Professional

With Professional, two different cameras give you the same film look.

Standard works with every camera. Professional adds a neutral profile for your camera model underneath the film stock, so a wedding shot on two bodies comes out with one look.

  • Made for working photographersWeddings, events and client series, where every frame has to match. Built for daylight, flexible in other light.
  • 368 camera modelsNot listed? Use Standard, which works with every camera.
  • Both in every Lightroom editionAVS Lab Tech picks Professional for you when your camera is supported. Capture One styles are built for your camera model.

I'm enjoying these profiles more than any presets I've bought. They feel more broadly useful. I'm a hobbyist who does not enjoy editing so I'm looking for a way to process my photos more quickly - this is helpful.

It’s rare to find profiles that respect the natural colors of a landscape while elevated portraits so effortlessly. These don't rely on heavy, contrasty gimmicks; instead, they provide a perfect, timeless foundation that makes skin tones look amazing and greens/earth tones blend seamlessly. A phenomenal solo project that beats out many massive preset brands.

The profiles and toolkit give a solid starting background. I love it to quickly complement iPhone photos to photos taken on other cameras of same event to provide more cohesive gallery.

Very impressed with these profiles. I shoot a lot of film for personal projects, but for cost and practical reasons mostly shoot digital for commercial work and casual photography. It's great to be able to achieve a very convincing film look with the conveniences of digital. …

Purchased this pack for the profiles but the workflow tools and lab tech plugin are where Im impressed. Great functionality with subtle accurate shifts.

Absolutely loving the profiles and the colors they're producing. Sebastian is a great help and has answered any questions I had in regard to the workflow as well. …

… I am really happy with both the tools and profiles and think they are great value for money, there are a lot of options within the pack. I would recommend!

Worked great in clean light to match my film. I had to do more tweaking to get my film to match when working in more challenging conditions but that is to be expected. Overall I have enjoyed working with these.

I am so skeptical to buy into products that market towards achieving a specific end goal (especially in the saturated market of film-like presets/profiles) but this is the real deal. ... This is a WORTHY tool to invest into.

        10Questions

        Here is what runs where.

        What you get there
Lightroom Classic 7.3+3D LUT-based profiles and Workflow Presets. The AVS Lab Tech plugin needs Lightroom Classic 12 or newer.
Lightroom 1.3+3D LUT-based profiles, Standard and Professional, and Workflow Presets on desktop. The Standard profiles also sync to your phone.
Camera Raw 10.3+3D LUT-based profiles and Workflow Presets, also in Photoshop.
Capture One Pro 16.8+ICC-based film styles built for your camera model, plus the AVS Toolkit for Capture One. AVS Lab Tech is a Lightroom Classic plugin and isn't part of the Capture One version.
Other editorsNo. These are Lightroom profiles and Capture One styles, not .cube files.

        More questions photographers ask

        Which Lightroom do I need?

The 3D LUT-based profiles and Workflow Presets work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom and Camera Raw. The AVS Lab Tech plugin needs Lightroom Classic 12 or newer, because the other apps can’t run plugins.

Is grain part of the profiles?

The profiles set color and tonality. Grain comes as presets in the AVS Toolkit, which is part of every edition, so you choose how much.

How do I keep a whole series consistent?

Pick one film stock and exposure level for a scene and sync it across the series, like any Lightroom profile. With Professional, two camera bodies match too.

        Where are the limits?

The profiles are built in daylight. They stay flexible in other light, but there is no promise of a perfect match at night or under extreme color. Professional needs a raw file. Capture One styles are built for one camera model. Slide film is not in the library yet.

I already own an edition. What do the others add?

The editions overlap: the C-41 Edition contains the Portra Pack, and the Master Collection contains everything. The table above shows which film stocks are new for you.

How long does it take to get used to them?

The film stock does the color work, so you start from white balance and exposure instead of from color sliders. The guide that comes with every edition walks you through your first edit.
