Analog Vision Studio V2.1 Essential has 4.9 out of 5 from more than 260 reviews, collected after purchase. This page quotes twelve of them word for word, including the ones with reservations, and lists where the product stops.

The 4.87 average comes from 265 reviews that buyers wrote after their purchase.

The product page shows 4.87 out of 5 from 265 reviews of the Essential Frontier edition, as of 27 October 2026. Buyers are asked for a review after the purchase through Klaviyo Reviews. The review widget further down this page lists every review the shop has received, unfiltered. That number is larger, more than 360, because it also counts reviews of the previous version and reviews of the shop itself.

The quotes on this page come from a smaller group, the 124 longer reviews by verified buyers of Analog Vision Studio V2 written up to 22 July 2026, which is the export I had when I wrote this page. Newer reviews are in the widget and not among the quotes. I chose quotes that describe something you can check, such as a camera, a kind of light or a step in Lightroom, and I kept the ones with reservations in. The wording is word for word. Where I left out sentences, a […] marks the gap, and spelling mistakes stay as written.

Two reviewers report closer matches in clean light than in flat or difficult light.

These work really well with direct flash, direct sunlight, golden hour etc, really close to film. I find they aren't quite as film like in flat overcast lighting though - overall happy with my purchase.

Ximena · May 2026 · 4 of 5 stars

Worked great in clean light to match my film. I had to do more tweaking to get my film to match when working in more challenging conditions but that is to be expected. Overall I have enjoyed working with these.

The profiles are built for daylight, and I come back to that in the section on limits.

Reviewers name skin tones, landscapes and the cameras they used.

[…] These don't rely on heavy, contrasty gimmicks; instead, they provide a perfect, timeless foundation that makes skin tones look amazing and greens/earth tones blend seamlessly.

Loving this setup for film emulation! Works beautifully with my Leica Q3 raw!

Dan S. · July 2026 · 5 of 5 stars

The workflow took some getting used to for me, but the profiles look good/acurate with the RAWs from my R6ii.

Ruben D. · May 2026 · 4 of 5 stars

[…] They work great with Apple ProRaw files, however I have noticed they struggle a bit with my Canon CR3 files.

These are individual experiences, so I do not read a rule about any camera or file type out of them. Which cameras the Professional versions cover is listed on the supported cameras page.

Reviewers describe the Lightroom workflow, including the time it takes to get used to it.

[…] I'm still establishing the smoothest workflow, but thus far I start with basic LR exposure & white balance adjustments, I move to the ANALOG panel to pick a film and dial in some adjustments, then go back to LR develop for further tweaking in a couple areas like Tone Curve and perhaps HSL or color fine tuning.

Cate · July 2026 · 5 of 5 stars

[…] I love how these are color profiles with a simple dial that allow you to do the rest. I am really stoked on how easy it is to add them to my Lightroom workflow!

Matthew S. · July 2026 · 5 of 5 stars

[…] Due to the fact that these presets work as 'profiles' you don't get to see what's happening (all the sliders, etc. remain untouched), and for someone like me who likes seeing everything it's a bit strange, but again this makes the workflow super fast and easy to adjust/do little tweaks.

Jeremías C. · May 2026 · 5 of 5 stars

At first I was a bit underwhelmed but these profiles really do work well and I love them. […] The do take a bit of getting used but having had the product for 10 days now they’ve fitted into my workflow really well. I’m primarily a sports photographer.

If you want to see the installation before buying, the installation guide is public.

Reviewers also name things they would change.

[…] I will say the film grain toolkit can be refined more, especially towards higher resolution files. I’m shooting with a 40 megapixel Fuji XH2, and the 100, 200 iso presets are nearly invisible.

Matthew C. · May 2026 · 4 of 5 stars

[…] Easy to use and to install. The only thing I wish it had is more options for highlight/shadow tints, but you of course can just do that yourself. […]

The profiles have limits, and some of them decide whether they fit your setup.

  • Camera and file type. The Professional versions need a RAW file from one of the cameras on the supported cameras list. The Standard versions work with any camera Lightroom supports and with JPEG. On a JPEG, results can look different or be less precise, because the camera's own colour rendering is already in the file. I would advise RAW wherever possible, and a lower Amount slider if you work with JPEGs.
  • Light. The profiles are built for daylight. They stay fairly flexible, and flash works. In night scenes and with extreme colours the result can move away from the film, which matches what the two reviewers at the top of this page describe.
  • Profiles instead of presets. The sliders stay where they were, as one reviewer notes above, and two reviewers mention an adjustment period. If you want a preset that sets every slider for you, this works differently.
  • Software. The film profiles and workflow presets run in Lightroom Classic 7.3+, Lightroom (cloud) 1.3+ and Camera Raw 10.3+, and on mobile through Creative Cloud sync. The AVS Lab Tech plugin runs only in Lightroom Classic 12+. The browser-only version at lightroom.adobe.com cannot import custom profiles. Every edition is also available for Capture One, for one camera model per purchase. Video editors are not supported.
  • Delivery and returns. The product is a digital download with no shipping. The conditions for withdrawal and refunds are written out in the refund policy. The free sample is there so you can check the look on your own files before you buy.

You can try two film stocks for free before you decide.

The free sample contains Kodacolor 100 and Vision 3 250D, each at 0 EV and in the Standard version only. It comes without AVS Lab Tech, workflow presets and Professional, and the download arrives by email after you sign up.
